The upcoming Viking game Tribes of Midgard has recently revealed the first information about the gameplay and the content of the first season “The Wolf Saga”. Find out here what crazy ideas the developers have come up with for events and rune upgrades – one of them encourages you to carry less.
Wait, do I really have to be naked? You “don’t have to,” but in the first season of Tribes of Midgard, there is a bonus for each empty armor slot of your character. At least with the corresponding “Rune” – one of the systems to keep the survival RPG exciting. The developers shared this in new game information, which included new gameplay shown in the video.
What we already know about the gameplay: In a recently released new video, Community Manager Sydnee McLeod finally talks about more gameplay features of the upcoming survival MMO Tribes of Midgard. The game is said to have two basic modes:
- Saga Mode: A session-based game mode where you specifically team up with a group of friends for a few hours of fun; in this mode, there are saga quests and exclusive season loot.
- Survival Mode: A kind of sandbox MMO mode where you build a village with friends, explore the world, and fend off attacks from monsters and giants.
Moreover, it seems that how warmly you dress might matter after all, as the developers frequently mentioned in their blog that the eternal Fimbulwinter is approaching, and it will get cold. How does that fit with the nakedness bonus?
What we know about the classes: There will be 8 classes available at launch, but only two will be immediately accessible. The rest must be unlocked.
One of the two starting classes is the Ranger, a ranged fighter. Through a complex skill tree, you can further develop your hero.
Nakedness Runes and Rooster Event – How Wild Tribes of Midgard Will Be
This is how the runes work: You can upgrade your heroes by equipping them with gear. But there are also runes that provide additional bonuses.
One rune lets you deal more damage to giants, while another rune prevents you from losing all “souls” when you die. These souls are important for strengthening the world tree sapling, among other things. Furthermore, this indicates that you will likely have to face a significant loss upon death.
Especially amusing is the already mentioned rune that gives you bonuses for each empty armor slot. This means in the final interpretation that you will become an absolutely fearsome berserker when you charge into battle naked!
According to the community manager, in Saga mode, you will receive a random selection of runes at the start of each session.
This is what the events are about: In Saga mode, you will fight particularly powerful bosses with friends, and the first of them is initially chained in a cave. However, to find and defeat him, you must complete events in the world. All of which are quite original, especially the event with the three Ragnarok roosters.
For it has been foretold that the crowing of the three legendary roosters Gullinkambi, Fjalar, and a third nameless rooster is the first sign of the impending twilight of the gods. But what if you silence the three rascals beforehand?
Other events revolve around victims of kidnapping by dark elves or a meeting with a legendary stag. So if you enjoy Nordic mythology, you’re in for a treat here.
This is What Awaits You in the Seasons
In addition to the regular gameplay, there will be regularly special seasons that are time-limited. While a season is running, various additional features will be available. As an example, in the first season “The Wolf Saga,” these include:
- New classes
- Exclusive loot
- Special saga bosses
- Cute little pets
These things are all exclusive to the current season, so if you miss one, you might never be able to obtain a certain item afterward.
When does it start? The first season “Wolf Saga” starts at launch on July 27, 2021. In September, there will be a mid-season update, and in November, season 2 will continue. This season will also have a mid-season update two months later in January 2022. It should therefore change something in the game every 2 months.
