The new survival MMO Population Zero is moving closer to its release. In a video, players can take a closer look at the exciting combat system of the game.
This is Population Zero: Population Zero is an MMO that places a special focus on story and survival elements. When it was first presented, it resembled No Man’s Sky as an MMO. You are a settler on the planet Kepler – and you must somehow manage to survive there.
Both the local aliens and other player-controlled settlers make this task harder for you. To succeed against them, you need to master the game’s melee system. And this is what it looks like:
Players hunt monsters – weak fighters become one
This is what the combat system offers: In the video, the developers first show what the fight against the local monsters looks like. Equipped with a melee weapon, you strike at anything that moves. Using the resources gained from fighting, you can craft new equipment afterwards.
In PvP, you face off against other players who have their sights set on your loot. The combat system is intended to challenge the skills of its players. So those who are particularly good at fighting should have an advantage here. However, weak fighters can also look forward to an exciting gameplay element.
Going on the hunt as a monster: If players die too often in combat, a “mutation” occurs, according to the developers. This allows settlers to evolve into the so-called “Void” – super aliens who are faster, stronger, and more agile than the settlers.
The Void no longer fight with weapons, but with their claws. The sole goal of the Void: to eliminate all settlers. Accordingly, it may be worthwhile for players who have become Void to band together against the settlers who pushed them into this fate in the first place. But be careful: Void have only one life – and settlers can also form alliances.
When is Population Zero coming out? The release of Population Zero is currently scheduled for May 5, 2020, on Steam.
If you add it to your wishlist on Steam, you even have the chance to take a free look at the game before the Early Access.
