The new survival MMO Last Oasis celebrates its release today. Learn here what to expect and when exactly you can start playing.
What is Last Oasis? Last Oasis is a new survival MMO in which you have to fight against the sun. The Earth has stopped rotating, and the sun now continuously burns everything it shines on.
The last refuges are the oases, heavily contested by the surviving people. An important feature for fleeing from the sun is small and giant walkers made of wood, giving Last Oasis a bit of the flair of “Wild Wild West meets ARK“. We have included a first glimpse of the gameplay here for you:
When and where can I play it? Last Oasis releases today, March 26, for PC on Steam. It is playable since 5 PM.

Survival MMO with a focus on PvP
How hard is survival? Although Last Oasis is a survival MMO, you mainly have to take care of water. Water is the most important resource in the game and is also needed for traveling, which you must do constantly.
You can build your own base, but it is not as stationary as in other survival MMOs. Since the sun constantly threatens to burn your home, you can simply pack it up and transport it on your walker to another oasis – which again requires water.
Accordingly, the oases are heavily contested, where the water exists. You fight not only against ape-like NPCs and huge boss enemies in the desert but also against other players to secure your survival.
How does PvP work? PvP is the main feature of Last Oasis, and the developers have already revealed that this will remain the case. Their fans want a hard fight against other players.
To that end, you either play alone or in small groups to engage in trade or piracy, or in large clans that can take over and protect entire oases. As a clan, you have the power to establish and enforce your own rules in each oasis.
An oasis (each a separate server) can hold up to 100 players at the same time. Enough space for large territorial battles even between clans.
The combat system is based on your own skill. You must independently indicate the directions of attacks and blocks through movements. Therefore, it is also important in PvP fights to weigh whether you want to engage immediately or rather look for a diplomatic way.
Last Oasis maintains the decision to be a hardcore PvP game. Amazon just stepped back from exactly this concept with their MMORPG New World at the end of 2019, which is why Last Oasis mocked it with a tweet.
