The upcoming survival game Sons of the Forest has released a new trailer. It allegedly shows live gameplay with really nice graphics and cool features – but also mutants and enemies that already caused chills in the first part of The Forest.
This is shown in the trailer: The new trailer for Sons of the Forest shows the island where the survival game apparently takes place. It seems to be the same island where the predecessor The Forest was set, one of the best survival games of all time.
After the first trailer showed the crash of a helicopter, the second one shows you how it continues afterward. According to the developers, the trailer shows gameplay that was recorded directly from the latest build of the game (via Twitter). Among other things, you can see:
- The iconic wood chopping, with the tree actually getting destroyed at the affected spots
- the fight against island inhabitants and mutants
- various weapons and tools, as well as crafting and building
- an obviously friendly, allied mutant
The graphics and performance of the game look in the trailer exactly how one would wish from a survival game – and better. With a shovel, you can actually excavate earth, enemies react to hit spots, and objects are destroyed dynamically. We have embedded the entire trailer here for you:
“The Forest 2” – Sequel looks really good
What kind of game is this? Sons of the Forest (unofficially also called “The Forest 2”) is the sequel to the popular survival game The Forest. As it seems, you play in Sons of the Forest the surviving son of the protagonist from the first part, Timmy.
After crashing onto the island with the mission “Kill Demons” with your helicopter, you apparently face the same dangers as the father did in the first part.
There are spoilers about the story of The Forest:
In The Forest, you crash on a nameless island and have to fight against mutants and cannibals to find your kidnapped son. However, you find out that he was sacrificed and in the end, you must decide whether to use ancient machinery to resurrect him or let morality prevail.
Apparently, the son survived in Sons of the Forest. However, not much is known about the story of the second part yet.
What makes Sons of the Forest different? As the trailer shows, there are firearms like pistols and tasers. Since you apparently belong to a special unit, it also makes sense for these to be used. However, melee combat is supposed to remain the focus, and ammunition will be limited.
Additionally, three scenes show a woman with more arms and legs than usual. A mutant who is apparently not hostile towards you but helps you. This is a novelty in the game.
The enemies are classic natives and other mutants, with entirely new mutations expected. One of the enemies, for example, consists only of legs and fingers with a gaping hole through the entire body.
The Forest offered a multiplayer experience through co-op gameplay against the island. Whether there will be multiplayer in Sons of the Forest and what it will look like is still unclear.
When will Sons of the Forest be released? The release for the new survival game is planned for 2021, currently only for PC. Nothing is known yet about console versions. The predecessor, The Forest, was also released on PS4, but only several years after the announcement.
