The survival MMORPG Pioner is set to be released in 2024 and focuses on PvE. Fans of STALKER will surely be pleased to see the new gameplay.
What kind of game is it? Pioner is a survival MMORPG created by the Russian indie developer GFA Games. Originally announced in 2020 and in development since at least 2017, the game offers a first-person perspective and emphasizes PvE.
You will be placed in a post-apocalyptic world on a Soviet island that is isolated from the mainland by an anomaly. During the game, you will encounter abandoned settlements, secret research stations, and a variety of beasts inspired by the dangers of the STALKER series and Escape from Tarkov.
Although the main focus is on PvE, PvP zones are also planned. The game is set to be released in 2024 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, and has now unveiled a new gameplay trailer.

How is the game structured? There are two sides of the island. As a new player, we start on the left, where cities, traders, and housing are located. The main story of the MMORPG also takes place on the left side of the island.
Additionally, we find the PvE content of the game there, which has been given the most attention during development. There are also the clan contents, such as settlements or minigames and bars.
The further we go to the right, the more dangerous it becomes. There, along with tougher opponents, a large open PvP zone awaits us.
What MMORPG elements does the game have? Like in a classic MMORPG, you can level up. With each level-up, you receive a skill point that can be used in skill trees.
Weapons can be extensively upgraded. Mods for the weapons can be crafted at a workbench. For changing modifications on the weapons, you don’t even need a workbench; it’s also possible in the open world. Weapons can be heavily customized; for example, a submachine gun can be turned into a machine gun.
Does the trailer provide information about raids, dungeons, and loot? The trailer indicates that the best loot is only on the right side of the island. The two PvPvE areas there are the site for clan wars. The monsters and creatures there are also significantly stronger.
There are no quests there; the gameplay is more akin to Escape from Tarkov, where we can collect the loot from our enemies.
As clans, the goal is to capture and hold crafting sites on the right side to access resources more easily. Once the bags are full enough, you just have to get to safety.
According to the trailer, there will also be raids and open-world bosses that you can fight. However, it has not yet been revealed on which side of the island the bosses are located. We recently reported in detail about Pioner.
