The new survival game Nightingale is announced for early next year on Steam. In November, over 12,000 players explored the current version of the Victorian fantasy world in a closed playtest. Developer ‘Inflexion Games’ shares a recap with statistics and screenshots from the game.
What is Nightingale?

2000 hours of character creation
Who doesn’t love it? Character creation is essential for personal attachment to your own game character. The testers of Nightingale were pleased to have many options. In a blog post, “Inflexion Games” shares interesting numbers.
What do the statistics say?
- On average, players spent almost 10 minutes in the character editor.
- 36 players took over 90 minutes.
- One player managed to tinker with their character for over 8 hours.
The final balance showed: to create the over 11,500 characters, all players spent a whopping 2000 hours in the character editor.

What was particularly popular? Players spent the most time on the eyes. But an extraordinary detail was also very popular.
In Nightingale, it is indeed possible to give your character a metal tooth. A total of 3000 players used this feature. 309 ‘Realmwalkers’, as the adventurers in the world of Nightingale are called, went so far as to replace all their teeth with a shiny version.
The wild boars are on the loose
Of course, especially in the early stages of a game, bugs occur frequently. So it was in the current test of Nightingale.
Due to a bug, there were reportedly huge rushes of wild boars and wolves that players had to deal with. Over 60,000 animals were eliminated during the playtest, with wild boars being the most affected.
However, most players fell victim to the wolves. Fortunately, you need not worry about being overwhelmed by unwanted wildlife at release. The bug has already been fixed.
What does the game look like otherwise? The game promises a visually impressive Victorian fantasy world. In screenshots, the test players show how they have experienced it.
‘Inflexion Games’ plans to release a video of the gameplay tests in November soon. Perhaps we will learn more about what to expect in Nightingale.
