In Destiny 2, the big expansion “Beyond Light” is coming up. A new story trailer is supposed to get the Guardians excited for the DLC and give a first glimpse of what players can expect. This time, the aliens have discovered a new power source for themselves: They are using the power of Stasis and freezing their opponents. They appear quite aggressive.
This is what we see in the trailer: In the new story trailer for Destiny 2, we see the antagonist of the expansion, Eramis, rallying her soldiers for the fight against us, the Guardians.
Eramis is “The Deadly Kell of Darkness”, a four-armed killer.
Her decisive statement is: She wants to make the “great machine” suffer as much as she and her people have suffered. Because from the fate of her own people, she derives the hatred that drives her: The “Eliksni” culture has “fallen”. Under the name “The Fallen”, the Eliksni have been known to Destiny players since 2014. They belong to the 4 enemy alien races.
The DLC “Beyond Light” will again put them in the spotlight. Because the Fallen have discovered new powers.
In order to take revenge on the Traveler, who has treated her people so badly, Eramis will apparently use the power of darkness.
The trailer for Beyond Light mainly shows the perspective of the Fallen, the antagonists of the expansion:
- they see themselves as an oppressed people planning a rebellion to free themselves
- they apparently use the abilities of Stasis, which are cold-oriented
- these new abilities seem to corrupt and change the Fallen
We also see our old acquaintance Variks, who sends out a distress signal, thereby calling the Guardians to action.
The Darkness appears as a cosmic adversary
What it’s about: The clear selling point of “Beyond Light” so far is that Destiny is receiving a completely new element, Stasis, for the first time since 2014.
All previous powers in the game came from the Traveler and its “Light”. Stasis is now for the first time a skill that does not come from the Traveler, but from its cosmological counterpart: the Darkness.
These abilities will not only be available to the Guardians but also to the enemies in the game.
Here are the enemies of the expansion: Besides Eramis, players will face “high-ranking lieutenants”. Bungie introduces the 4 lieutenants of Eramis:
- Atraks
- Kridis
- Phylaks
- Praksis
They are supposed to be all “powerful foes” who are “skilled users of Stasis”, as Bungie states.
On the side of the Guardians, the following will appear:
- Variks – an uneasy ally
- The Exo Stranger – she is said to have an “extraordinary vision of the future”
- Eris Morn – she has dedicated her life to understanding and defeating the Darkness
- The Drifter – a looter and hustler. He has long bragged about his connection to the Darkness; for him, it’s only about survival
Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on November 10th. You can find all information about the new expansion on our website MeinMMO.
It is hoped that with the emergence of the Darkness, the story line that has been dormant in Destiny since 2014 will finally gain momentum, but has rarely appeared.
After 6 years of chaos, the real story finally begins in Destiny 2
