A:IR, Ascent: Infinite Realm, is currently in development as a new MMORPG by Bluehole, the creators of the successful battle royale shooter PUBG (Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds).
A:IR, formerly known as Project W, transports you into a steampunk world where machines meet magic. The inhabitants of this world are in search of new living space, for which they need airships and other flying vehicles.
Flying plays a significant role in A:IR, as aerial battles are part of the game principle. You create your hero from the classes Sorceress, Mystic, Warlord, Assassin, and Gunslinger.

Airships, Mechs, and Realm-vs-Realm Battles
Flying mounts, airships, and other aircraft not only serve to transport you quickly from A to B, but there are also frequent battles high above the clouds. These aerial battles are at the center of the realm-vs-realm battles.
In these, players clash and engage in massive battles both in the air and on land. Land vehicles and mechs help you achieve victory on the ground while planes chase each other over the heads of the warriors in the skies. With ground-to-air cannons, it is possible to intervene in aerial combat from below.

Tactics and Customization Options
The battles are intended to be tactical and play differently from map to map. You will have many opportunities to bring victory to your side. These include mines that you can cleverly lay out, cannons, and a plethora of buffs.
Especially in these realm-vs-realm battles, Bluehole could utilize the experiences the team gained with PUBG, making the MMO very interesting for all PvP fans. Your airships can also be customized according to your wishes. Customization options include color, type, appearance, and performance.

A Known Publisher – Kakao is also behind Black Desert
Besides realm versus realm battles, many quests await you, and it is even possible to create your own missions. Housing also plays a role. The mix of magic and steampunk leads to unusual situations. For example, a dragon attacking an airship or an assassin suddenly pulling out a cannon to attack his enemies. You can see how this unfolds in a roughly five-minute trailer.
At the G-Star convention, which takes place from November 16 to 19 in Busan, South Korea, further details are expected to be announced. Kakao Games, which also publishes the MMORPG Black Desert Online, serves as the publisher for A:IR. If you register on the official website of the game, you will have the chance to win a key for the upcoming beta, which starts in the “West” in 2018. In Korea, the beta phase begins this December. A release date for the MMO has not yet been determined.
