The MMORPG Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore has entered Open Alpha on Steam. The game is aimed at hardcore players who enjoy more challenge and teamwork in their games.
This is Ethyrial: The new MMORPG Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore places you in the dangerous world of Irmesa. You start on a lonely island and must slowly make your way through the areas to reach the continent.
The areas are divided into different biomes, such as tundra, deserts, swamps, etc., where you can complete various quests.
The catch with Ethyrial is the high difficulty level of the game. The developers specifically warn that their MMORPG primarily targets hardcore players who do not mind enduring painful losses upon death.
Death in the game leads to the loss of EXP and random items, which you can pick up again unless someone else has already done so. The risk is high, but the feeling of success is said to be enhanced as a result, according to the developers.
Additionally, there is a strong focus on teamwork and playing together with others. During instances, players must work closely together to succeed. And here, too, death has serious consequences:
- If a player dies, their EXP loss is shared among the entire group.
- If the group successfully completes the dungeon and can resurrect the player, the players will receive a portion of that lost EXP back.
In PvE, Ethyrial aims to offer many boss fights within dungeons and a coliseum arena, which you can face either alone or with a group. PvP fans, on the other hand, can compete against each other in different arenas and fight for the top spots on the ladder.
Long videos with gameplay from earlier tests are circulating on YouTube. We have linked one of them for you here:
What payment system does Ethyrial use? The access to the open alpha is free. After the release, the developers plan to introduce a subscription model like WoW or FFXIV. There will also be a shop, which will not include EXP boosts or similar gameplay aids.
How to participate in the alpha: The alpha of Ethyrial is open to everyone, so to participate, you only need to go to the Steam page of the game and click the green “Request Access” button at the bottom.
After that, you can download the game, install it, and get started right away. The alpha will last a whole month. So you have plenty of time to explore the game and try out different features.
