Sony has introduced a new gaming headset for the PS5 in black: Now some fans are hoping to soon be able to buy the PS5 in black. Many fans still wish for a PS5 Black Edition.
You have a PS5 and are bothered by the white design and therefore always hide your console in the cabinet under your TV? At least there is hope that Sony could bring a black design in the future. At least more accessories are available in the black “Midnight Black” design.
This has happened now: Sony has now officially introduced the Pulse 3D Wireless Headset in Midnight Black. Until now, the official PS5 headset was only available in white.
This is not the first accessory that Sony has presented in black. Sony has also released a DualSense controller in black. Sony itself says, “The new look of the Pulse 3D headset matches the same color scheme as the DualSense Midnight Black Wireless Controller.”
Why is this so exciting? Many users wish for a black design of the PS5 or at least black side plates (called backplates).
The announcement of a black variant now raises hopes that Sony will in the future not only offer black accessories but also the console in a new design.
Black accessories raise hopes for a new PS5 design
These are the reactions: Under the official announcement, there are many comments hoping for a black console. Sony often prefers a uniform design for its consoles. For many users, a black headset is therefore an important step towards a black design. Someone commented under the announcement:
We are one step closer to getting the black faceplates for the console, or even better, to buy the black version right away. Fingers crossed.
Other users also believe that if Sony invests time and effort in black accessories, a black edition or at least black plates that can be installed by themselves should definitely follow:
This is great! Now we just need a PS5 Black Edition! I’m just waiting to buy it! Please make it happen, Sony!
The white PS5 design is unpopular among users
We from MeinMMO asked what our users think of the official white PS5 design. Many users made it clear that they do not really like the white design. There were even comparisons with internet routers and vacuum cleaners.
I also unfortunately belong to those people who won’t buy a console because they don’t like the color. And white hardware is a no-go for me – I don’t care about the specs or the design.
Users do not like Sony’s design decision or it just doesn’t fit into their living room. Some users even take it a step further by hiding the console in a cabinet so that they don’t have to see it all day.
That’s why a black design would be important: With a possible design, Sony could appeal to many users who are not satisfied with the white design. With interchangeable side plates (backplates) in black, they could convince users who have already bought a PS5 in white.
However, there are also users for whom the design is quite irrelevant. Many people just want to buy a PS5 first before they think about whether the console is painted white, black or green.
