In gaming, known titles and classics are often used by developers as inspiration for their own games. It is either the graphics, the setting, or the way of storytelling. Destiny 2 is also often used as a source of inspiration, but one studio may have taken it a bit too far.
Which game is being referred to? The title that has taken a lot of inspiration is Luna Abyss, which is set to be released for the PS5, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is a creepy first-person shooter in single-player mode. In this, you play as a prisoner condemned to explore an abandoned artificial moon that holds many secrets.
The developers are Bonsai Collective, a relatively new team founded in 2019. Luna Abyss is thus their first title.

Destiny streamers are impressed: Aztecross, a long-time Destiny streamer, has taken notice of the game and can hardly hold back in making comparisons to Bungie’s loot shooters.
A red traveler, Vex portals, and even Nessus are involved
What does Aztecross say about Luna Abyss? While Aztecross watched the trailer for Luna Abyss, he couldn’t help but smile and shake his head. He draws various comparisons with components from Destiny 2:
- The moon appears in the trailer like the traveler, only in red
- Doors in Luna Abyss have the same design as Vex portals
- Locations in Luna strongly resemble the destination Nessus, the Exo mission for the Whisper of the Worm, or the SIVA replication chamber
- Even Sepiks Prime has made it as an enemy in the single-player shooter
- Last but not least, the notorious Vex laser traps have been implemented into the game

While Aztecross cannot yet assess the game himself, he still finds it very interesting. The first-person shooter is creepier compared to Destiny 2 and features interesting environments and a red traveler, according to the streamer. He finds it definitely cool and will likely try it himself.
Luna Abyss – A creepy and mysterious shooter
What is Luna Abyss about? In the FPS by Bonsai Collective, you play as a prisoner who, as mentioned, has been sentenced to explore an artificial moon. However, the moon is not barren and empty but contains huge monuments and abandoned ruins within.
The interior of the moon is called “Abyss,” and your task is to penetrate these depths, recover lost technology, and find a lost colony. However, be aware that you are always watched by a prison warden named “Aylin.”
As you embark on the journey into the moon’s interior, you will experience ghostly echoes haunting the ruins of the celestial body. These tell you the dreadful fate of the moon.
You explore the world with your feet and do so by running, jumping, or even dashing. Enemies like cursed souls and bizarre figures will encounter you, so there are all kinds of weapons you can use for defense on your travels.
When will Luna Abyss be released? So far, no release date has been announced. According to the PlayStation Store, however, the shooter will be “coming soon.” So, it could be that Luna Abyss will be released in the coming months.
Can I pre-order Luna Abyss? No, the title cannot be pre-ordered in the Epic Games Store, nor on Steam or the PlayStation. It is also unknown whether the single-player shooter will even offer a pre-order option.
