Marathon is the new game from Bungie. It’s not long until the release, and that’s why the developers are hosting an alpha test where players can try out the shooter. A famous streamer has also taken a shot at it, but he already failed during the tutorial.
Which streamer is being referred to? TimTheTatman, also known as the clueless “Dad” on Twitch, became known primarily for his rounds in Fortnite with former eSports player “Ninja”. Besides Fortnite, Tim also streamed Warzone and Overwatch, gradually gaining more recognition.
His laid-back streams attract between 7,000 – 16,000 viewers (source: sullygnome.com), focusing mainly on shooters. With the alpha of Marathon, Tim tried to discover extraction shooters, but he quickly realized that the game is not as easy as it seems. Even the tutorial presented difficulties for him.
Tutorial shouldn’t be a problem even for beginners
What happened to the streamer? TimTheTatman started his stream calmly with a round of Marathon, but before he could enter the map, he had to go through the tutorial.
As revealed in a video by the well-known critic SkillUp, this is a short tutorial, and we also heard from Bungie that Marathon is very beginner-friendly – however, Tim proved the opposite, see for yourself:
In his recording, the streamer spawned in a lab and had to follow the waypoints. Visibly confused by a warning from the game, Tim didn’t know what to do. He wanted to explore his surroundings but then stood still in an area where he shouldn’t be standing.
The result was a countdown that counted down to 0 and killed Tim in the tutorial. It seems that Marathon is not as beginner-friendly as thought. Despite the bizarre moment, Tim took his elimination with humor, and his viewers had a good laugh too.
Can you currently participate in the alpha of Marathon? The alpha of Marathon is currently running for North America. Europe and Asia are still excluded from the tests.
You can register for the alpha via Discord, and other streamers are also giving away alpha access for Marathon on Twitch, but we will have to wait until Bungie expands the test to other parts of the world.
