With the last update, a Shockwave Grenade was introduced as a new item in Fortnite. Players are now using it to obtain significantly more materials from supply llamas. It is assumed that the developers at Epic will remove the grenade from the game soon.
With the patch last Tuesday, a seemingly harmless grenade was introduced. However, it has strange effects in Fortnite.
What is the grenade supposed to do? The Shockwave Grenade came with the last patch 5.30 to Fortnite. It was supposed to function as a more dangerous version of the Impulse Grenade: to knock back affected players. The grenade is used to launch oneself into the air or to scatter opponents.
No fall damage is incurred, but players are supposed to cause damage to objects they crash into.
Essentially a “mobility item” that is meant to bring speed and tactics to Fortnite.
What is the problem? However, a glitch is circulating on Reddit and Twitter that threatens to impact gameplay.
If you throw a grenade at a supply llama in such a way that you fly through it, you receive significantly more loot. We’re talking about triple material loot and additional drops. Treasure chests are also supposed to yield more loot this way. The site FortniteIntel reports this.
It is clear: Those who exploit this glitch could gain better equipment and an advantage.
Fans react in shock: This glitch has spread quickly. It is already being discussed on Twitter, Reddit, and YouTube. Even Twitch star Ninja tested the glitch on camera and with visible delight (via YouTube).
Many players are appalled by what is possible with the Shockwave Grenade. They believe that such a significant bug could hardly have made its way into the game unintentionally.
Some players suspect that the developers at Epic will temporarily remove the Shockwave Grenades from the game once they become aware of the glitch.
Should such glitches be spread? Some accuse the player “NoahJ456”, who spread the glitch, of being a “rat” who revealed the secret that some used to their own advantage. It will likely be fixed soon.
However, many also think it is positive to make such glitches known, forcing the developers at Epic to fix them quickly. If the affected items are out of the game, they cannot be abused.
What lies behind it: Epic regularly brings new items to Fortnite and has to remove them almost as regularly for short periods because they cause such glitches. Shopping carts and golf carts have been some glitch creators in recent weeks. Rifts also caused problems in Fortnite.
