In Pokémon GO starts “Memories in Motion”, the new season. We summarize how you can use it for yourself.
When does the season start? “Memories in Motion” starts on March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM. It ends on June 2, 2026, also at 10:00 AM.
The season brings a lot of changes, but also many bonuses. Notably, there will be no more usual spotlight hours. However, there will be new content daily.
How do you make use of the new features? We summarize what you should expect.
Plan your 7-day streaks
You will receive more XP and Stardust when you complete a catching streak of seven days. You should definitely keep this in mind when making your first catch of the day on the seventh day. If you catch a Pokémon with an excellent throw, perhaps even a new Pokémon, then you have the potential to earn a lot of XP with a single catch. Such examples have occurred before.
Additionally, you will earn extra XP if you spin a PokéStop on the seventh day in a row. Don’t miss this opportunity either.
Get used to the new schedules
With the start of the new season, there are changes to the Pokémon GO calendar. They are as follows:
- Sunday is Double Duration Sunday, with doubled times for incense and lures.
- Monday is Express Monday: You will get double points for GO passes. The Dyna Monday will also continue.
- Tuesday is Showcase Day. Here, you will find showcases in up to 20 different categories.
- Wednesday remains the usual raid hour.
- Thursday is GO Battle Thursday: Four times Stardust from PvP battles and up to 50 battles a day.
- Friday: Two special trades, increased chance for lucky Pokémon, up to 10% lower Stardust costs when trading, and two guaranteed XL candies for local trades.
Prepare for Saturdays
The weekend events in Pokémon GO are now primarily set to take place on Saturdays. This will particularly affect community days, raid days, and other events.
Look for Shinies
The new season brings a change: From now on, all evolved Pokémon that have ever been shiny in the game can also appear in the wild as shiny. Previously, in most cases, only stage-1 Pokémon could be caught as shiny. Additionally, in Rocket battles, all Pokémon that have ever been shiny in the game can now appear as shiny.
You will have an increased shiny chance from Pokémon that you catch in battles against Giovanni, Arlo, Sierra, or Cliff. Moreover, there is an increased shiny chance from raid battles and when hatching eggs.
Trade for Candies
In the new season, you will receive an additional candy as well as an additional XL candy when you trade with your friends. However, this only applies to local trades, not the relatively new remote trades.
If you are on the hunt for candies for rare Pokémon, you can trade the same Pokémon with friends – this way, both of you will receive more candies for that Pokémon.
Additionally, you should keep in mind that you will receive a season special research that grants you a Volcanion – but only if you haven’t caught it at a past GO Fest.
