In Diablo Immortal a new boss has arrived. The first players have attempted the new raid and failed. For Gorgothra sets new standards when it comes to difficulty – just like Vitaath before her.
What kind of boss is this? Gorgothra the Rafferer is the third raid boss in the Hell Reliquary. She visually resembles the head of a Medusa with countless teeth, mouths, and snake heads. Accordingly, she relies on poison.
Gorgothra was announced as part of patch 1.5.2 in early July and has been available in the Hell Reliquary on EU servers since August 2 at 3:00 AM.
What makes Gorgothra so difficult? The actual attacks from Gorgothra seem to be not the problem, but rather the prerequisites she requires. As players on reddit show, a combat rating of 2,935 is already necessary for level 1.
This corresponds to about the jump from Hell 2 to Hell 3, at which many players fail. One player, for instance, reports that their group “barely” managed to clear the first difficulty level. Only one player survived somehow, even though the players with 3,400 were said to be well above the combat rating.
If your combat rating is below the requirement for a content, you will receive more damage from enemies and deal less yourself. Everything simply becomes more difficult.
Just like with Gorgothra, there was also with Vitaath, who hardly anyone could defeat at release. Players are slowly realizing how raids are actually intended – also through a comparison of the two bosses.
A proper group composition helps in fighting raid bosses. In our tier list you will find the best classes in Diablo Immortal and in the video we show you gameplay of all 6:
Players understand: You should come back later
The requirement that seems absurd to some fans goes even higher in the further stages of the bosses. In a direct comparison between Vitaath and Gorgothra, you need:
- Level 1: 2,935 for Gorgothra and 2,000 for Vitaath
- Level 2: 4,065 for Gorgothra and 2,450 for Vitaath
- Level 3: 5,205 for Gorgothra and 3,465 for Vitaath
As reddit user RowanIsBae observes, it looks like players are supposed to come back to older bosses after defeating the following ones. This is shown at least by the comparison of the required combat ratings for Vitaath level 3 and Gorgothra level 1.
So you shouldn’t be able to defeat every boss at the highest level in just one month. At the same time, it is striking that Gorgothra at level 3 has an even higher requirement than the current highest hell level. Hell 5 only requires “only” 5,025.
Whether this already means that new hell levels are coming can only be speculated. Diablo Immortal is supposed to be continuously supplied with content, but the current system of difficulty levels is something that already causes massive problems:
Ancient system blocks progress in Diablo Immortal – players wish to do more alone
