With Blood of Heroes, a new PvP game in the style of Dark Souls and For Honor is coming. With your hero, you will face other players in duels or fight in groups for dominance. The open beta starts on August 26.
What kind of game is this? Blood of Heroes is being developed by the Belarusian indie studio Vizor Games and takes place in a “dark, medieval, Nordic realm.” The game fully focuses on PvP in various modes and brutal close combat.
The game’s slogan is already “Kill them quickly and brutally” – presumably referring to the opponents.
What are the features? You play as one of the various heroes with their own weapons and abilities and fight against other players. You brawl in three known game modes:
- Duel – A 1v1 fight against another player in a personalized arena; you can also challenge friends here
- Brawl – A deathmatch mode for three-player teams
- Domination – 2 teams of 5 players compete against each other and fight for control of the map – apparently similar to For Honor
The arenas are one of the core features of the game and are supposed to be customizable. Through loot, you should be able to change the appearance and even the layout of your arena. This can even include gameplay-relevant elements.
If, for example, you incorporate multiple levels into your arena, you can simply push opponents to their doom by sending them over an edge. You can also change the weather in your arena.
PvP in Dark Souls style, open beta starts in August
How does the game work? The combat system looks like a mix of Dark Souls and For Honor. You actively fight with axes, spears, and shields, can block and parry. Skill and timing seem to be at the forefront.
Gameplay mechanics such as “staggering” from Dark Souls are visible, where opponents are briefly stunned and become vulnerable to attacks. The popular execution feature from For Honor also seems to play a role.
When and where can I play? The open beta for PC starts already on August 26. You can sign up for the test on the official site (via bloodofheroes.online). The game will be fully playable in German.
Upon release, Blood of Heroes will be a Free2Play title for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. However, a specific release date is still pending.
The Nordic fantasy setting where Blood of Heroes is supposed to take place has recently been gaining popularity and has already produced several strong games:
