In PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds the “new” map Miramar will soon be available for the Xbox One version. However, the desert map is controversial and many console players are still skeptical.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has two maps on PC: the Eastern European island Erangel and the Mexico-inspired desert map Miramar. The new map was released for PC back in December 2017. Now the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is finally set to follow.
Desert map coming in May to Xbox One – But do players even want it?
In May 2018, it is finally supposed to happen: Miramar is coming to Xbox One. The new map is as large as Erangel. It features unique weapons and vehicles, including minibuses, pickups, and jet skis. However, the developers have not disclosed a precise date yet. The news about the new map is received with mixed feelings:
- Some players are looking forward to the new challenge as they have memorized the old Erangel map by now.
- However, it is often heard that the new map is not worth it: Miramar is too open, the sightlines are too far, there is too little cover, and in the rugged mountains, one quickly becomes a victim of the death zone.

Therefore, various players are complaining. They would prefer that the developers finally improve the performance of the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Only then would it be necessary to bring a new map.
Will Miramar ultimately be better on Xbox One than on PC?
Some players on Reddit are looking forward to Miramar and see the problem of the lack of cover as less severe. Because of the less precise controls with the controller, shots at long distances are significantly harder. Therefore, one would be less often picked off by snipers.
So it could well be that Miramar is less unpopular on console than on PC. There, players wanted to remove the new Miramar map from the game by modifying the game files!
While Xbox One will soon get Miramar, the PC will soon receive the third map for PUBG!
