PlayStation 4 players received the first major ARK Genesis update on March 13. The PS4 patch mainly consists of bug fixes and adjustments that improve the gaming experience. Even the most annoying feature has been nerfed.
This is in the patch: The approximately 8 GB PS4 Update 545.11 mainly includes bug fixes and minor changes. We look at the patch notes and translate them into English:
- The drop rate of high-quality loot in missions has been reduced by 40%.
- Area damage of the TEK missiles and their explosion radius have been decreased.
- Usage of cryopods during the final boss is now limited.
- Building structures during the final boss is no longer possible.
- Diverse visual fixes.
- Diverse exploit and bug fixes.
Most annoying feature of ARK Genesis finally nerfed in PS4 update
One of the current main criticisms in ARK Genesis is the high difficulty, even though others praise it. The starting area, the swamp biome, is for example terrorized by swarms of insects.
The little nasty creatures attack all living beings and players. Especially beginners have a hard time dealing with them. However, the new PS4 patch should ease the situation:
- Beelzebufo deals 2.5 times damage to insect swarms.
- Fire deals 1.5 times damage to insect swarms.
- Insect swarms also have 50% less health points.
This should make the swamp biome much more bearable. Just equip a torch, which you can easily craft early in the game with few resources, and set the swarms on fire.

When will the patch be released for PC and Xbox One players?
Xbox One players have already received a small pre-patch on March 11, which has at least fixed some performance issues. However, it may still take a few days before the current update is rolled out on Xbox One and PC.
- PC players can expect the patch during March 14.
- Xbox One players will have to wait until next week.
In the meantime, you can sweeten the wait by taming the Ferox. Because they can no longer be tamed with berries.
