Steam is known for its huge selection of games, and some of them certainly seem crazy. One such game is Brotato, a roguelite for €5 that lets you fight aliens in the form of a heavily armed potato.
Which game is it about? The new potato game was released on September 27, 2022, on Steam and is actually called Brotato. So the name is a mix of the English terms Brother / Bro and Potato.
Brotato is available for €4.99 on Steam and stands out there with a strong 95% positive reviews. The title is currently still in Early Access, but the developers assume that the game will not cost more afterwards (via Steam).
What is the game about? Brotato describes itself as an arena shooter roguelite. You will be thrown into an arena and must fight off alien hordes with weapon force. You yourself take on the role of a living, heavily armed potato with a face, little arms, and legs.
In order to defend yourself adequately against the approaching enemies, you can equip your potato with up to 6 weapons simultaneously. In addition, you can choose various items and abilities to create your own build.
What features does the game offer? The developers list a number of features on Steam that Brotato has. These include “hundreds of items and weapons” as well as “dozens of characters.”
Therefore, you don’t always have to play the same potato, but you can vary between your characters. Examples listed on the Steam page include a wizard, a lucky guy, but also a one-armed potato.

Where does the recommendation come from? The popular German content creator HandOfBlood tested the game Brotato in a video on YouTube. The video went online on October 14, 2022, with the title “Please buy this €5 game!” and lasts nearly 1.5 hours.
