Pokémon Scarlet and Violet features a new trailer showcasing a multiplayer mode reminiscent of cooperative play in Monster Hunter World. You can see 4 players exploring areas together and hanging out in towns.
What was shown: In the new trailer and during the Pokémon Presents on August 3, the cooperative mode of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was introduced. In the trailer and on screenshots, you can see teams of up to 4 players traveling together in the Paldea region.
The trailer also emphasized shared play. Trainers are encouraged to travel, learn, and grow together. This will be made possible thanks to the new cooperative system of Scarlet and Violet.
How does the coop work? In the new Pokémon games, players can team up in groups of up to 4 people. It functions similarly to Monster Hunter World, where you can also form teams of up to 4 players to hunt monsters and complete quests together.
To join the coop in Scarlet and Violet, you need to use the designated Union Circles. After that, you can explore different areas in the Paldea region with your friends, battle wild Pokémon, or hang out together in hubs. Trading Pokémon and Link Battles from previous Pokémon games also return in Scarlet and Violet.
The new coop mode goes even further and allows you to fight alongside your partners in the new Tera Raids. The Pokémon in these special raids are transformed by a mysterious phenomenon. You can battle and catch these rare Pokémon with your friends.
The coop in Scarlet and Violet is significantly larger and more developed than in previous Pokémon games.
Will there be couch coop as well? However, there seems to be a significant limitation to the coop. So far, only online multiplayer has been mentioned. Whether fans of couch coop will also be satisfied remains unknown.
When will the games be released? Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on November 18, 2022. So you won’t have to wait too long before you can zoom through Paldea and catch Pokémon with your friends.
What do you think about the coop feature in the new Pokémon games? Will you use it, or would you rather go on your adventures alone? Let us know in the comments.
