New patch from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 lets you decide: Do you want brutal Soulslike or a walk in the park

In the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the new patch adjusts the game’s difficulty. Now you can choose between Hardcore and Easy Mode.

What has the new patch brought? In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the new patch has made some changes to the difficulty. Although the role-playing game still offers the previously known difficulty levels, it now provides additional options for individual customization. You can choose between the following difficulty levels:

• Story Mode (easy): Enemies deal less damage and you have more time to dodge and parry
• Expedition Mode (medium): Enemies deal normal damage and the time to dodge and parry is at the desired level
• Expert Mode (hard): Enemies deal much more damage and dodging and parrying is much more difficult

Now you can further modify these settings and customize the game in detail to your liking.

From a stroll to a Soulslike

What can you adjust now? With Patch 1.3.0 for Expedition 33, the developers have introduced new customization options for the difficulty. For instance, they have made the Story Mode even easier: The time window for parrying and dodging can be increased by up to 40%, while enemy damage can be reduced between 10% and 50%.

However, if you prefer it tough, you can restrict yourself. The developers now provide the option to limit attacks to a maximum damage number. This allows you to set your attacks to deal only 99,999 or 999,999 damage. This also restricts OP builds.

New is also the option to increase enemy hit points by 2-, 5-, 10-, 20-, 50-, or 100-fold. The customization options will be available to you after the third act at checkpoints.

With the new options, every player is free to choose between an easy stroll and a real tough challenge that has a lot in store. Particularly, the damage limit prevents many OP builds and necessitates a new approach.
