Actually, I was not really interested in “The Division: Resurgence“, the mobile game of the well-known Tom Clancy series from Ubisoft, until now. But that has changed today. Not only does the game come remarkably close to the original, but it also sounds like the continuation of “The Division 1,” which players have always wished for.
This is how Ubisoft attracts with new content: In summer 2022, “The Division Resurgence” was announced as the mobile game of the Division series. At that time, the game seemed to be just a trimmed-down version of Division adapted for mobile devices.
So for most hardcore Division agents, like our shooter author Maik Schneider, it was not really exciting at first.
However, since yesterday’s Ubisoft Forward, it has become clear: “The Division: Resurgence” is apparently not just a trimmed-down mobile version of the 3rd-person cover shooter, but a promising expansion of the popular The Division in New York City, which could now also convince hardcore fans.
- Thus, “The Division: Resurgence” will offer a brand-new MMO adventure and a campaign independent of Tom Clancy’s The Division 1 and The Division 2.
- The game will also include new perspectives on important story elements.
- Furthermore, players can expect new game modes for both PvP and PvE, new specializations, even new enemy factions and a new social space.
- As in the original, it will also be rounded off by a quite detailed game world, solid animations, day and night cycles, as well as dynamic weather effects in Unreal Engine 4.

Free gaming experience with open social space
This is new in “The Division: Resurgence”: Basically, “The Division: Resurgence” of course offers the well-known Division experience – just on mobile phones.
The unique core story itself does not change much:
- In this specially designed The Division experience for mobile devices, you once again embody an agent of the “Strategic Homeland Division” and have the mission to restore order, fight enemy factions, protect civilians, and help them build a better future.
Moreover, it offers the familiar 3rd-person shooter feel from Division 1 and 2, RPG character development, the MMO approach, cover mechanics, looting and leveling, as well as a large open world in New York City.
- You eliminate enemies in various new operations and activities, gaining experience points to level up.
- There is also a dedicated first-person perspective at the push of a button, even with sights.
Ubisoft promises a “brand new MMO adventure”
Even if a lot is supposed to be new in “The Division: Resurgence,” it is not necessary to know the events from parts 1 and 2 to get into the game. However, experienced Division agents should be able to recognize connections and thus gain new perspectives on old story elements from Division.
Another change will be the shared and open MMO world.
There will no longer be an instanced game world as is currently the case with the Division games, but an “open social space.”
- This means you will encounter significantly more other gamers in “The Division: Resurgence.”
- Whether you want to play alone or in co-op mode is still up to you.
Also, besides the PvEvP classified Dark Zone, there is still the solo PvP mode “Conflict: Domination.”
- In this mode, only player duels take place and you now have to compete mobile in two four-player teams to hold control points.
Ubisoft has also made some technical changes: With Resurgence, you can challenge your smartphone graphically, as the title does not rely on the previously used Snowdrop engine, but uses Unreal Engine 4.
Unfortunately, there is still no detailed information about the new enemy factions or new specializations, such as the field medic.
But even with this information alone, “The Division: Resurgence” already sounds like the Division, or like a continuation that Ubisoft should have released years ago as a successor to Division 1 – just not as a mobile version.
Beta starts today – However, not in Germany
“The Division: Resurgence” officially started its first two-phase beta on June 13 at 12 PM. However, not yet in Germany, but in Australia, Chile, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden.
Interested players from Germany will therefore have to wait a bit longer before they can discover the game themselves. However, pre-registrations are already possible now.
- This allows you to unlock exclusive rewards at launch. All further information can be found on the website www.thedivisionresurgence.com.
What are the requirements? As a free-to-play title, Resurgence will be available for all iOS and Android devices. You can also use a Bluetooth controller to play. However, your device should have at least 8 GB of free storage space.
When is the release of Division: Resurgence? There is not yet a specific date. However, Ubisoft is now aiming for the official release in autumn 2023. When exactly, you will find out as always on MeinMMO.
This is how Resurgence is financed: The financing is done via in-game purchase options, such as microtransactions, as well as a shop where you can spend real money.
