Black Skylands is an action-adventure game from the Russian indie company Hungry Couch Games. In collaboration with tinyBuild, a steampunk world has been created that combines many gameplay elements.
What is it about? As the brave and capable captain Eva, you command your own airship and fight to protect your people from the invading falcons. Explore the endless expanses of the sky world and gather the necessary resources to forge powerful weapons.
Where can you play it? Black Skylands has been available for PC, Switch, PS5, and Xbox since August 15, 2023.
What does the Black Skylands–trailer show? The trailer provides a great insight into the top-down shooter elements that Black Skylands has to offer you. You navigate your airship past flying rocks, over large islands, and past your opponents. In battle, you use the airship’s firearms.
Through the larger cities of the flying islands, you control your character on foot and fight with rifles against the enemies waiting for you on land. Purchase new weapons in the shop and gear up for the next battle.
The combination of different gameplay elements makes this action-adventure special
According to Steam, Black Skylands is the first steampunk game that combines sandbox and RPG elements in an open world.
In the trailer, you get a brief insight into the interaction with various NPCs, which, however, do not yet show how strong the RPG aspect will be.
Although the trailer focuses on the combat mechanics of the game, it presents a nice mix of pixel art gameplay and lovingly animated video sequences in comic style.
