A new Korean development studio is currently working on an interesting multiplayer game that is strongly reminiscent of the Dark Souls series.
What kind of game is it? The online action game is currently titled Project Relic. It is a multiplayer game in which you hunt for relics from human history.
Apparently, there will be no open world, you will be in scenarios where you are always searching for a relic.
During this search, you will experience action-packed and fast-paced battles. Boss enemies will also impede your progress, which you will then have to defeat.
A Dark Souls as a multiplayer game
What does the game remind you of? The Korean development studio Project Cloud Games has released the first gameplay trailer for Project Relic. In this, you can see some of these boss battles. And they strongly resemble the Dark Souls series.
The large monsters apparently must be defeated with elaborate strategies. They presumably have weaknesses that you will need to find and exploit, just as is the case in the Dark Souls games. This is at least suggested by the way the battles unfold in the video.
Also interesting is that the environment plays a role in the fights. For instance, a monster breaks a hut behind which the player is hiding.
How RPG elements will fit into this is currently unclear.
Who is behind the game? The Korean development studio Project Cloud Games has been newly established. The founder, Sea Ik Park, previously worked for Blur Studio. This studio provided special effects for games from the Call of Duty series, League of Legends, and worked on cutscenes for the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. The studio was also involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
You can also see the origin in the new game Project Relic. The battles appear very cinematic and full of effects.
When will the game be released? The release is currently planned for 2022 on PC and consoles. A crowdfunding campaign is planned beforehand, which will serve to finance the development of the multiplayer game Project Relic.
