In January 2022, the new MMORPG Broken Ranks (PC) will be released. It promises dungeons, raids, an interesting combat system, and above all, a fair payment model, allowing you to earn in-game currency without spending real money. What is Broken Ranks? Broken Ranks is an MMORPG in the ISO perspective, similar to Lost Ark or Diablo. It focuses on a dark atmosphere, rich storytelling, and features a turn-based combat system where you have 10 seconds to decide on an action. Such systems are typically found in single-player games like Final Fantasy or Atlantica Online, but most MMORPGs rely on real-time combat.
Additionally, Broken Ranks features:

- Group content like dungeons and raids

- PvP content that takes place in special areas

The game is developed by the Polish indie studio Whitemoon. They have emphasized English and Polish localization in their past games. Broken Ranks will also be available in German, Russian, and Portuguese.
How is the game funded? Broken Ranks will be a Free2Play MMORPG and will be funded through a real-money shop. New details about this shop and the associated currency, Platinum, have now been revealed.

How does the real-money currency work in the game? Basically, the shop uses the currency Platinum, which can be purchased with real money. However, it is also tradable in-game.
You can trade Platinum for gold or equipment with other players or theoretically just give it away. Similar to how it works in Warframe. To do this, you drag the box with Platinum into the trading window, just like you would for gold or gear in other MMORPGs.
Additionally, you should receive the premium currency as a reward for reaching certain level milestones and for special in-game events.
What about the shop? What exactly will be available in the shop has not yet been revealed. However, the following statements have been made so far:
- There will be cosmetic content.
- The spending of real money will never be mandatory.
- New equipment will only drop from mobs and bosses in the game or can be obtained directly from other players through the trading window.
- Many items in the shop should be craftable by players themselves.
The developers emphasize both in the blog post and in the FAQ for the game that Pay2Win will not be an issue in Broken Ranks.
When will Broken Ranks be released? Broken Ranks is set to celebrate its release in January 2022. However, a specific date has not yet been mentioned. Initially, it will only be available in a standalone client. The developers are considering a release on Steam.
