Thunder Tier One by KRAFTON, Inc. is the new top-down tactical shooter from the makers of PUBG. In co-op mode, four players can experience strategic operations of an elite special unit together.
What is Thunder Tier One? As a four-member special unit, you will be dispatched to various missions around the world. You’ll control your soldier from a bird’s eye view.
In the various missions, you must make real-time decisions. Your field of vision is limited to the immediate vicinity of your team and their line of sight. As elite soldiers, you have access to a wide array of weapons.
Before starting a mission, you can customize and modify your weapons and equipment as you like.
The game is developed by KRAFTON, Inc., which also includes the PUBG Studios. Krafton describes Thunder Tier One as “highly strategic and realistic game.”
How long can you play Thunder Tier One for free? From December 11 at 05:00 AM until Sunday, December 13 at 05:00 PM, you can test the preview version on Steam for free. Any user with a Steam account can participate. By clicking “Request Access”, you add Thunder Tier One to your library.

What can you expect in the preview? The tactical shooter from the ISO perspective takes place in the present and can be played in co-op and single-player. In addition to the first two missions of the campaign, the published preview version includes the game modes “Advance and Secure” and the classic “Deathmatch.”
In “Advance and Secure,” two teams consisting of 4 players compete against each other and must take control of various sectors on the map. By holding the control points, the opposing team loses points.
In the classic Death Match, 8 players fight against each other. Whoever has the most kills when time runs out wins. If you reach the kill target before time runs out, you can decide the round in your favor.
The two playable missions of the campaign: With the preview running over the weekend, you can play the first two missions of the Thunder Tier One campaign.
In the first mission “Silver Dew,” you infiltrate a heavily guarded apartment complex and must rescue a high-profile target. You need to figure out how to sneak past the guards and overcome a roadblock to ultimately infiltrate the building.
The second mission “Cold Stone” takes you to a mountainous region where terrorists store weapons and ammunition. During the mission, you must rescue a hostage. Sneak past the enemy patrols in the forest and take out numerous enemies on your way to the entrance of the cave network.
Thunder Tier One is a tribute to 20-year-old games: As early as 2016, Pawel Smolewski, Head of Action and Gunplay at PUBG, had the idea for Thunder Tier One. At that time, he was experimenting with the possibilities of Unreal Engine and developing a concept for a top-down game. He was intrigued by the mechanics and the challenge at the same time.
Together with two colleagues, they began working on Thunder Tier One in their spare time. Due to a lack of time and Pawel’s transition to PUBG Corp., the work on the game halted for almost three years.
After finishing a major project, Thunder Tier One was officially pitched at Krafton and met with immediate approval. Currently, six additional people are working on the project.
Who is Thunder Tier One for? Thunder Tier One is a title of interest for fans of the old S.W.A.T. and Commandos games. In multiplayer, you can conduct tactical missions with up to three other friends. If you enjoy finding the best solution together, you should take a look at Thunder Tier One.
The influences of PUBG are palpable in the shooter. Weapon and character design are inspired by PUBG, and you can attach and modify your weapons with attachments. Fights against other teams are as intense as in PUBG – just from a different perspective.
