In EA FC 25, a new mode is causing frustration among fans. On Reddit, especially players with visual impairments are complaining that they are clearly at a disadvantage.
What is this new mode? As part of the new Fantasy FC event, there is a new cup for the friendly match mode in Ultimate Team. In this mode, you can earn rewards and season points (SP) for the Season Pass through games and victories against real opponents.
The matches are played according to the swap rules, meaning that at the beginning of the match, 3 random players are swapped among the positions. The swapped players receive a colored vest as a distinguishing feature.
Why is the mode causing frustration? The disadvantage is largely related to the appearance of the vests (orange and yellow), as the colors of the tops are said to be indistinguishable, especially for people with a certain form of color blindness.

Fan Accusation: “EA doesn’t care about color blindness”
What are color-blind fans saying about the new mode? On Reddit, two posts on this topic have gained a lot of attention. Both posts summarize their problem with the new mode in almost identical statements:
- User Plastic-Win-6104 writes: “As a color-blind person, I cannot distinguish between the orange and yellow jerseys of the swapped players. I wish there was an option to have them appear in the normal jerseys.” (via Reddit)
- User Jykae writes: “I am color blind and cannot see any color difference between my swapped players and my opponent’s. The mode itself is quite fun, but please just swap the jerseys too.” (via Reddit)
However, it seems that the problem does not only affect these two users with color blindness. Various players without impairments also report visual difficulties:

- User ThatFIFAscrub writes: “I’m not even color blind and I find it terrible. The swapped players not only have their vests but also wear completely different colored jerseys underneath. And then the referee wears orange, which matches the orange vests, damn, that’s awful.”(via Reddit)
Is there a solution to the problem? Another user asks in the comments if there would be no option for color blindness in the settings. In response, Jykae, one of the affected players, replies:
- There are settings in the game for color blindness, but they only change the appearance of different colors. Actually useful settings for color blindness would be if users could use exactly the jerseys they want, in exactly the settings they want (no shadows in stadiums, no random day/night games, and especially the choice of referee jersey color). The problem would also exist in the jersey selection in the Squad Battles mode, as players could choose their preferred home or away jersey for their team at will, but would have to choose between 2 already set jerseys for the opposing team.
It seems that EA needs to readjust their support for color-blind players or generally make a clearer differentiation in the selection of jerseys and vests.
