The Super Bowl LV is just around the corner, and fittingly, Rocket League is getting ready. A new mode is set to bring a fresh breeze. In this mode, you even hold on to the ball and are not allowed to leave the playing field.
What is it about? The Super Bowl 2021 (or LV for 55) is a major topic for football fans. And the developers at Psyonix for Rocket League have decided to create a special mode for you. Instead of simply swapping the known soccer ball for a football, they are introducing new rules.
The new mode is called Gridiron and is set to stay in the game for one week. We will show you what is happening.
Gridiron Mode in Rocket League – All about the Football Event
When does it start? The event celebrating the NFL Super Bowl LV 2021 starts on Tuesday, February 2nd. It will only be active for about a week and ends on Monday, February 8th.
These are the rules: For the Gridiron mode, there are specific rules you should follow. Additionally, the NFL Fan Pack is returning to the store.
- In Gridiron, you play on a football field in a 4-on-4 mode.
- You are not playing with a soccer ball, but with an American football. That is the one that is egg-shaped.
- When your car touches the ball, you hold it on the roof. In the spike storm, the ball can stick to any part of your car.
- You become the ball carrier when you touch the football.
- If you want, you can release the ball by double jumping or “dodging”.
- The field is marked by lines – whoever crosses them loses the ball.
How do you score points? Depending on the type of goal, you get 3 or 7 points. If you transport the ball and it sticks to your car while driving through the goal, you get 7 points for that.
You get 3 points if the ball is “free” when scoring and is not sticking to any car. Own goals always count as 3 points.
Complete these challenges: For the event, Rocket League offers you three challenges. If you complete these, you unlock the title “Gridiron Guru”, the NFL wheels, and 20,000 XP.
