Project Odin, a new mobile MMORPG, aims to impress players with realistic and immersive gameplay. The game features strong graphics that would even impress on PC.
What is Project Odin? The mobile MMORPG Project Odin takes place in a world of Norse mythology featuring well-known characters like Odin, Freyja, and Thor. The tree Yggdrasil is also visible in a video.
To ensure impressive graphics, the developers utilize Unreal Engine 4, which Blade&Soul is also about to receive. According to the announcement, it will be the first mobile game to use “3D scanning and motion capture for realistic and immersive” gameplay.
Too Good to Be a Mobile MMORPG?
What can we see so far from the game? In addition to some screenshots, there is also an official teaser trailer for Project Odin. It shows a character running through a forest landscape and later up a mountain slope.
Notably, the beautiful graphics, realistic animals, and sounds in the trailer create a genuine feeling of being placed in a real yet harsh environment. It slightly reminds one of the successful game Skyrim. The first glimpses are certainly convincing.
However, the trailer reveals nothing about the gameplay content of Project Odin. This is also due to the fact that it is still early in development.
Who is developing the game? Project Odin is being developed by Lionheart Studio, a new Korean game studio. The studio was founded by Kim Jae Young, the developer behind the successful mobile game “Blade: Sword of Elysion”, in May 2019.
The studio was supported with funding from Kakao Games, the publisher of PUBG and Black Desert Online, and WeMade, the developer of the “Legend of Mir” series, with a total of 9 million USD.
The release of Project Odin in Korea is already planned for 2020. Whether and when it will come to the West is currently unknown.
