As WoW: Dragonflight takes off, another MMORPG had to shut down and close its doors. But at least for PvE fans, there is hope, as Pantheon is set to be playable 12 times in 2023. That and more in the MMORPG week in review.
The highlights of the week:
- In RuneScape, a player invested 8 years and 40,000 gameplay hours into an achievement so rare that the developers even congratulated him.
- Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is seen as a great hope for PvE fans. In 2023, the MMORPG plans to start a pre-alpha test every month in which paying supporters can participate (via massivelyop).
- Amazon is bringing the Asia MMORPG Blue Protocol to the West in 2023, as they announced at the Game Awards.
The discussion of the week: After just one week, WoW wanted to change the world quests, but quickly reversed course after criticism.
This week’s uproar: Lost Ark is plagued by annoying technical issues. Players are now demanding: No new content until this is resolved.
