Although the Kickstarter campaign for Scars of Honor did not reach its goal, the Bulgarian developers still want to continue the project. To promote the free-to-play MMORPG again, they have released an unusually trashy video that you absolutely must see.
What kind of video is it? “Scars of Honor: Narmhod Bouldershod’s Infiltration 101” focuses on the dwarven participants of an infiltration course, who listen to the story of their teacher Narmhod Bouldershod. It is about – of course – Narmhod’s heroic infiltration of a camp guarded by some pretty stupid orcs.
No matter if it’s the staging in in-game graphics, the amateurish voiceovers, or the numerous little gags and references – you usually don’t see a video like this for a game at fan project level from the responsible developers.
Instead, the nearly five minutes strongly remind us of many machinimas from the good old heyday of World of Warcraft. We are thinking here of Illegal Danish, The Craft of War: BLIND, or Welcome to the Deadmines. But see for yourself:
What is the current status of Scars of Honor? The game’s campaign on Kickstarter ended last week with a heavy setback. Of the targeted 182,775 euros, the team was only able to raise 31,109 euros.
Nevertheless, the developers at Beast Burst want to continue working on their project. In the latest update, they say:
Although the Kickstarter campaign was not successful, we are continuing to develop Scars of Honor with great urgency. Every week, new experts join our 72-member team – most of them are members of important departments with amazing experience in the industry. Additionally, our development pipeline has been completely reorganized, which will help us develop things faster and more efficiently. So as you can see, we have indeed been successful, not in financial terms, but with the other things that are important for a project like ours.
