With the release of a gameplay trailer for the upcoming MMORPG Chrono Odyssey, the developer NPIXEL is currently delighting its fans. Since the announcement of the cross-platform MMORPG in 2020, there has been a long silence about the game. Now, many voices regarding the gameplay material are very positive and make gamers’ hearts race. We summarize the reactions for you.
What kind of game is this? Chrono Odyssey aims to be a next-gen MMORPG for PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox. It brings the necessary conditions with the Unreal Engine 5. At its core, you follow the story of Idraiginn, a member of a special unit dedicated to fighting the 12 gods.

How is the gameplay trailer received? According to the colleagues at mmorpg.org.pl (via mmorpg.org.pl), the game leaves a great impression just like the competing PC MMORPG Bellatores. The author writes: “No MMO has ever looked this epic.”
Not only the graphics but also the shown gameplay mechanics in combat are praised. Comments from other users under the Polish post confirm this view and read as follows:
- User dreedzik writes: “Black Desert 2 on the Unreal Engine 5.”.
- User Metal69 says: “It actually looks very good, let’s see what comes of it.”.
The gameplay trailer for Chrono Odyssey also pleased user SaikoDC on MeinMMO.
- User SaikoDC says: “I really liked the Chrono Odyssey trailer. With Unreal 5, very nice graphics, and I really liked the style of the landscapes and the buildings. […]”.
The colleagues from 3Djuegos go even further (via 3djuegospc.com):

Is there negative criticism as well? Some users express concerns about the developer, as they had previously focused on mobile games. Some criticize the action-heavy combat system. Others feel that the graphic style goes too far. In particular, some effects seem to divide opinions.
- User Gumiaczek (mmorpg.org.pl) writes: “Why do these new games have to shine so brightly? An armor or even ordinary dirt looks like it has been coated with some kind of oil. Soon you will have to play these games with sunglasses.”
Furthermore, the fanbase expresses concerns regarding the technical aspects amidst the offered graphical spectacle. One user raises a suspicion about the design of the game:

In the end, it will only be apparent with the release where Chrono Odyssey will actually be classified.
It is also a matter of personal preferences. Regarding the combat system, some users prefer the classic tab-targeting system with hotkey bars, while others love action gameplay like Black Desert Online.
It is similar with the offered graphics. Whether Chrono Odyssey applies too much polish to armors, discarding the rest within the landscape, or whether that is exactly what pleases one’s personal taste visually, everyone must decide for themselves in the end.
