There are concerns about the new indie MMORPG “Seconds of Silence,” which should appeal to fans of “The Elder Scrolls” and The Witcher. But now there is no news from the ambitious project. The website is offline, and the developers have not uttered a word on social media for a month.
What kind of game is this? “Seconds of Silence” was supposed to be a fantasy MMORPG with a simulation twist. Players were supposed to explore the world and experience adventures, but also be able to build a house or a castle. The best players were even supposed to rise to become the rulers of a kingdom.
The online role-playing game had great ambitions. It was said to be developed for “PC and consoles” using Unreal Engine 4, according to an interview. The indie developers excitedly talked about their ideas for shapeshifting races and how important crafting and building would be in the MMORPG.
Great ambitions – allegedly 30 developers
The developers emphasized that they wanted to take inspiration from the battles in “The Elder Scrolls” and “The Witcher” and promised many features.
They actively sought connections with mod developers for Elder Scrolls: The team from Seconds of Silence gave a long interview to a mod site in July 2019 about what a huge game they were planning (via nexus.mods).
Allegedly, 30 developers were supposed to work for the company and they were looking for more.

Presented in summer, alpha in autumn, then disappeared
How has the timeline been so far? The first time we heard about the MMORPG was in June 2019, a first trailer came out in July, and then an alpha was supposed to start.
From the Facebook page of the developer “Abstract Era Entertainment,” it became clear that the alpha test actually started on October 12.
On November 6, there was also a “special promotional measure for full alpha access” – but that was the last post from the developers.

Website offline – backers fear “fraud”
This is the current situation: The website of “Seconds of Silence” is offline, and has likely been so for a few days. The social media accounts (Facebook/Twitter) have not been updated with new information for a month.
In the few places online where people are discussing “Seconds of Silence,” a suspicion arises that something might be wrong:
A user on YouTube says that people who supported the game were contacted via email by the developers asking if they could contribute more money (via YouTube). However, the money did not go to a company but only to “a guy in North Carolina.”
The developers apparently did not have money for development, and the plan was to be funded by fans. This does not seem to have gone well.
We have requested a statement from the developers.
