The MMORPG Corepunk looks like a mix of WoW and LoL and is starting the first tests this September, which are under NDA. However, the Early Access for all players is set to begin this year without restrictions.
What do we know about the tests? A new FAQ states that the first tests are scheduled to start on September 30. Players who have been active in the forum and Discord over the past months and years will be invited first. The first group consists of only 21 people.
The players will receive a visual NDA.
They can talk about their experiences but cannot share images or videos.
Interestingly, the first tests will only take place in Europe. Other regions like North and South America will be added gradually. Initial events are planned for the end of October. The visual NDA is also expected to lift at the end of October.
When will everyone be able to play? Corepunk is set to officially start in Early Access in December 2023. Then, anyone who buys the MMORPG will have the chance to dive into the game world. Currently, there are no prices or ways to purchase the game.
Corepunk is expected to be Buy2Play and will focus on a Battle Pass and cosmetics in the shop.

What kind of game is Corepunk? Corepunk is a “top-down MMORPG” with an open world. Visually and also in terms of controls, it resembles League of Legends. At the same time, it is a classic MMORPG that, according to the developers, is supposed to remind players of the difficulty of WoW Classic.
In the game, you can expect:
- There are 6 classes with a total of 18 different specializations
- Dungeons and raids that are comparable to Mythic+ (the highest difficulty in WoW)
- Mounts that you can only acquire from a certain level onwards
- Many PvE contents in the open world, which is equipped with a fog of war that hides content outside the line of sight
- PvP in certain areas of the open world and in arenas. 1v1 and 2v2 deathmatch arenas are planned. There will also be ranked matches.
- There are trains that run through the open world and can run over and kill you.
- Various crafting professions, with crafting offering some unique features
What is so interesting about crafting? Most of the items crafted in the game are soulbound. Therefore, they cannot be traded afterward. However, the developers have thought of an interesting trick.
You can craft items for other players in an order window. Payment for the item can also be made directly there. But first, you need to find the people with a suitable crafting skill. This could become an interesting social component in Corepunk.
In the old MMORPGs, the best crafters were known on every server. This also creates a certain connection to your fellow players and your own server. This “knowing people” has become less interesting in modern MMORPGs. Many of the new games can also be experienced solo, and those who need good items go to random dungeons or the auction house.
Additionally, while you can learn all professions at once, you have a limited number of points. So if you want to be a brilliant armor smith and craft the best armors, you cannot also craft the best weapons at the same time.
Furthermore, the best recipes need to be found first. They are hidden in chests, difficult dungeons, or behind special achievements. Some high-level materials are also said to be directly bound to the character, so armor smiths will have to go farming themselves.
A good crafter who has many materials in stock can quickly make a name for himself and become a desired trading partner.
