At the end of January, almost out of nowhere, the MMORPG The Quinfall was announced. It looked stunning in the first trailer and promised sailing, breeding your own mounts, housing, and much more. Now the developers have revealed many new details in an interview – and it still sounds really good.
What kind of game is it? The Quinfall sounds like an MMORPG that many players are desperately wishing for. It promises a lot of freedom, including the ability to own taverns or shops. Furthermore, there are supposed to be dungeons and huge boss battles for PvE players, while PvP players can engage in large battles over fortresses.
This is complemented by action combat, beautiful graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA RTX, as well as a dynamic weather system similar to Throne and Liberty.
However, the first impression made many skeptical. For an indie developer that has existed since 2021, this sounded far too ambitious. In an interview with MMO13, new details were revealed that support the previous statements and even add further highlights.
Here you can watch the first trailer of The Quinfall:
No classes, pure PvE servers, and plenty of exploration
What do we know about character creation? The Quinfall is supposed to have a detailed character editor. However, you will only be able to play as humans. However, you can make these particularly old or fat. However, these visual settings have no impact on your character’s strength.
The MMORPG forgoes fixed classes and instead relies on 9 different weapons.
What was revealed about PvE? Essentially, The Quinfall is supposed to have separate servers for PvE and PvP players. On PvE servers, you should be safe, while on PvP servers, you can fight against other players directly in the open world. The MMORPG uses a channel system like Black Desert. So you can freely switch between PvE and PvP servers with each character.
For PvE players, there should be dungeons and heavy world bosses. The boss fights are supposed to include mechanics that force players to “develop different strategies.” However, the exact size of the groups has not yet been disclosed.
Otherwise, you can follow a story that revolves around the Dragonborn gods Greis and Kreas.
An important aspect is supposed to be exploring the open world, which completely eliminates loading screens. There should be hidden puzzles and treasures, some of which will also be underwater. Swimming will be possible.
Otherwise, the game focuses on crafting with various professions, direct trade between players via their own shops, and housing, which will be possible in certain safe zones. Additionally, there will be a card game for entertainment.
What was revealed about PvP? In open world battles, you may die but won’t lose any equipment. Large battles for fortresses are also planned, with more details to be revealed in an upcoming dev diary.
What do we know about the server technology? Exact details have not been disclosed, but the developers emphasize that they plan for “a very high number of players on one server.” The 2,500 players in New World should be surpassed by The Quinfall.
The Quinfall is in alpha, will be Buy2Play
What is the status of the game? Currently, the studio has 56 employees working on The Quinfall. However, more developers are already being sought. Most of them are said to have previously worked on the Kayra Online project.
The game is supposed to be mostly finished and is currently in alpha status. A closed beta is already planned. You can sign up on the official website (via Quinfall).
How will the game be monetized? The Quinfall is supposed to be Buy2Play, along with a shop. However, there will be no demo or trial version. Anyone who wants to start the game must pay upfront.
