The new MMORPG Scars of Honor is set to receive its first demo version in 2026, and the developers have now spoken about the status of the MMORPG.
What kind of MMORPG is this? Scars of Honor is intended to be a theme park MMORPG with action combat and a comic graphic style, lying somewhere between WoW and Albion Online. The game aims for fair monetization without Pay2Win and is primarily inspired by MMORPGs from the 2000s.
The theme park will feature both PvE content such as randomly generated dungeons for 5 players and boss challenges, as well as PvP arenas where players can showcase their skills.

From an idea to 100 developers
Where does the MMORPG come from? Instead of being from a major publisher, Scars of Honor originated from a single developer. As became clear in the new developer diary, the team has grown from one developer to 100.
Initial glimpses shared through images and GIFs also clearly show: The MMORPG is making progress. Therefore, it is not surprising that the developers are now announcing their intention to launch a demo version in spring 2026.
The exact date is not yet set, but it is likely that one won’t have to wait too long.
What makes Scars of Honor special? While the MMORPG deliberately relies on many familiar mechanics, the developers have chosen a rather unconventional approach with the character system.
As a GIF on Steam shows, they are leaning more towards Path of Exile and its successor and using a starlit sky as the talent tree, allowing the character to develop in many different directions.
Additionally, there are so-called “Scars” that are not only the namesake but also grant the character one of four strong buffs, like in a roguelike. The Scar can be rerolled for gold, and it is conceivable that over time more such buffs and bonuses will be unlocked.
Scars of Honor aims to mix beloved and familiar elements with new ideas that are established elsewhere and work well, thus creating its own, new MMORPG vision. Whether this will succeed will be shown by the first test in a few months.
