Chrono Odyssey is a new MMORPG for PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox in development, which presented a really strong combat system in its first trailer. In the past weeks, the developers shared more details about the game via Twitter and Discord. We summarize everything important for you.
What kind of game is it? Chrono Odyssey is set to become a next-gen MMORPG in Unreal Engine 5. You can choose from six different classes and explore the game world of Setera. In this world, you can move freely and also climb mountains, as shown in the trailer.
- The big highlight is the action combat, which is reminiscent of Dark Souls. Especially dodging and blocking play a major role. Additionally, the animations and transitions feel very smooth, which is still a problem in New World.
- Another special feature is the Chronotector, with which you can make a brief step back in time or freeze enemies in the area in time. This is meant to help you get into a better position in combat or avoid instant kills from bosses.
- There will be group dungeons and world bosses for PvE fans.
- For PvP enthusiasts, huge “Kingdom vs. Kingdom” battles have been promised.
- The MMORPG will also feature dynamic weather events and seasons.
According to the developer NPIXEL, it aims to set new standards in the genre and will not be released for mobile, as originally planned in 2020.

Every class gets two weapons, world bosses are expected to be challenging
What has been shared about the classes? Several small videos on Twitter showcased individual gameplay for the classes. A core mechanic is that each class has two weapons, which they can switch between freely.
One class is the Sorceress, who can cast spells with a two-handed staff and a magic wand + focus:
The five other classes are:
- The Paladin with mace + shield and spear
- The Swordsman with sword + shield and great sword
- The Berserker with two axes and battle axe
- The Assassin with two daggers and rifle
- The Ranger with bow and rapier
Gameplay for the Paladin was also shown, along with the boss fight against a large dragon, which was already seen in the trailer. Around 60 players are fighting in an impressive storm of effects. According to the developers, “hundreds of players” should also be able to attack bosses simultaneously.
What else do we know about the MMORPG? Not much. Chrono Odyssey is set to be released worldwide, but the exact date has not yet been revealed. There is also no information yet about possible alpha and beta tests.
Regarding monetization, it has only been stated that no NFTs will be used. Whether it will be free-to-play, buy-to-play, or possibly even a subscription game is unknown.
What is certain is that Chrono Odyssey has excited many players with its trailer and the first information. The combat system is especially praised in most comments. As more and more MMORPGs with free weapon choice have been released recently, many are pleased that Chrono Odyssey has fixed classes.
Criticism exists only for the fact that no UI has been shown. Players want to know how many abilities there are and whether it is neat or totally overloaded.
