Bellatores is an upcoming MMORPG set in the Middle Ages, developed on Unreal Engine 5. After many months of silence, the developers reveal new information.
Development of Bellatores began in 2017 at the Korean studio Nyou. They originally announced it in 2020, then still under the title “Project N1.”
The studio is known for mobile MMORPGs, but will release Bellatores only for PC – even on Steam. It is being developed on Unreal Engine 5.
Realistic Looking Battles in the Middle Ages
What kind of game is this? Bellatores is an MMORPG set in the Middle Ages that includes fantasy elements. You create a character and choose from different races, but do not set a class.
The MMORPG offers a combination of survival, PvE, and PvP, aiming for realism. “It allows players to live as if they were actually in a medieval fantasy world,” say the developers in an interview with WCCFTech.
In Bellatores, there will be various factions competing against each other – conflicts, wars, and political activities are relevant. PvP in the open world is possible and will be a clear focus.
In the combat system, the developers rely on tab-targeting. Players are expected to proceed strategically and make quick decisions.
Additionally, the economy led by players plays an important role. You hunt, gather, and craft to trade with your fellow players.
What other content does it offer?
- Within the story, you should be able to make decisions that affect the course of the game.
- A dynamic game world that changes over time.
- Dungeons and raids in the open world instead of in closed instances. Through open PvP, players can attack each other during gameplay.
- There will be mounts, from which you cannot attack.

Reportedly Received Much Money for Development
The developers reportedly received a lot of money for the realization of the MMORPG, as revealed on their website. Through investors, Bellatores has already cost more than 44 million euros in 2020. In addition, Nyou has its own earnings from mobile games.
After announcing the high amount, the studio was silent for months. In April 2022, a report about further investments appeared, since then nothing has been heard.
A small group of fans eager to play Bellatores occasionally asked in Discord if there was any new information. Very little was generally known about the gameplay – until now.
For fans of the Middle Ages and PvP, Bellatores could become a promising title.
When will the game be released? Bellatores is set to release in the second half of 2024. Whether the release will be global or first only in its home country of Korea has not yet been determined by the developers, as they revealed in the interview. There will likely be beta tests beforehand.
