The new MMORPG Legend of Ymir has released a fresh gameplay trailer. The game is set to launch in 2024 and will be based on Norse mythology.
What kind of game is this? The MMORPG from the Korean developer WeMade is set in Norse mythology. Legend of Ymir is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and offers particularly realistic graphics. The MMORPG is expected to be a “next-gen” MMORPG and has previously announced massive PvP battles and siege fights.
The MMORPG is expected to have a rich story and offer a variety of life activities such as fishing, platforming puzzles, and competitions like arm wrestling and drinking challenges.

What does the trailer show? The trailer shows us various content from the game, alongside cutscenes there is also ingame footage to see. The game offers an action-based combat system and quick-time events in boss fights. Legend of Ymir seems to have a mix of story-mode and MMORPG where we smoothly transition from cutscenes into the actual game and back.
In the gameplay trailer, we can also see typical things for the setting such as ravens, animal pelts, and axes on the characters. There will also be mounts in Legend of Ymir; in the trailer, we see both flying and riding players.
A first glimpse at different classes can be spotted in the trailer. We noticed the following classes:
- Bard – A ranged class with a harp
- Spear Master – A melee class with good agility
- Warrior / Barbarian – A melee class with a shield and axe or hammer
- Druid / Sorcerer – A ranged class with a staff
- Priest – A ranged class with a healing staff
What contents can we expect? The trailer shows us a PvP battle where about 25 characters are fighting simultaneously. We can also see a first raid, where we counted over 15 characters. There seem to be dungeons as well; we observed a boss fight with 4 players.
When is the game coming out? In the new trailer, the developers revealed the release date of their new MMORPG. Legend of Ymir is set to be released in 2024. However, it is expected that the game will not be released until the end of the year, as the release of one of the most successful Korean MMORPGs in the West is planned for early this year.
How will the game be monetized? The developers of Legend of Ymir, WeMade, are known for implementing blockchain and NFTs in games. This is also the case in their most recent MMORPG MIR4, where players can mine ores and convert them into a cryptocurrency to earn money. This has already led to over one million players, but many of them were likely bots. In the new trailer, there is nothing new regarding monetization; it remains to be seen if WeMade will stay true to the line and also implement blockchain and cryptocurrency in Legend of Ymir.
