This week, New World released its roadmap, Throne and Liberty found its publisher, and NetEase revealed its idea for a completely new MMORPG. Additionally, there are again news about WoW, FFXIV, and some indie games.
The highlight of the week:
- The new MMORPG Teredor comes from Germany and will only be released here.
- Instead of relying on shop or subscription models, the developers want to use crowdfunding permanently. For real money, you will be able to buy personalized NPCs or co-develop a quest.
- They themselves say they are taking a risky bet with the players but are confident.
The controversy of the week: Throne and Liberty is the MMORPG hope for 2023 and has now officially found a publisher in the West. Amazon is taking over, but not everyone likes it.
The discussion of the week: YouTuber Bellular expressed critical views on affixes and even claims they ruin Mythic+. Do you see it that way too? Feel free to write it in the comments.
This week in the podcast: In their own podcast MMO News, Alexander Leitsch and Mark Sellner discuss the most important news around MMORPGs this week. Topics included the new roadmaps of Guild Wars 2 and New World, the release dates of Throne and Liberty and Aion Classic, as well as over 5 indie MMORPGs.
