Chrono Odyssey is an upcoming MMORPG with a sci-fi and fantasy setting. It is set to be released for PC, mobile, PS4/PS5, and Xbox. The developers announced the release for 2022, but that seems unlikely to happen now.
In 2020, a beautifully looking trailer sparked great hope among MMORPG fans, especially console players. Chrono Odyssey impresses with impressively realistic graphics.
The Korean development studio NPIXEL states that the MMORPG will be available on nearly all platforms (PC, iOS, Android, PS4/PS5, and Xbox) and will have a customized user interface for each.
What kind of game is it? Chrono Odyssey throws you into a mix of sci-fi and fantasy setting. Within the story, you are a member of the special unit “Idraiginn” and must wage a war against the gods.
Supposedly, it will feature an open world that you can explore. The detailed graphics are said to make it a special experience. The characters also look, at first glance, as if they were real actors.
What other content does it offer? Currently, there is little information regarding gameplay. However, trailers and screenshots reveal some features:
- In PvE, you fight against gigantic boss monsters
- PvP battles, where you face Realm against Realm
- Mounts
- Different weapons, such as sword and shield, bow, axe, and magic
- Various weather conditions and day/night cycles
Additionally, it is confirmed that Chrono Odyssey will implement a special job system. Similar to Final Fantasy XIV, it might be possible for you to switch between these jobs continuously.
Besides the MMORPG, there will also be comics, novels, and a series set in the universe. The developers are planning a larger project.
When will Chrono Odyssey be released? NPIXEL announced the release for 2022. An early access was supposed to start in 2021, which, however, did not happen. There is currently no information on the release of the MMORPG. Previous information, which is nearly a year old, indicates that the game is still set to be released this year.
So there is hope, but a delay of the release date is also to be expected, as the developers have not commented for a long time. MeinMMO editor and MMORPG expert Alexander Leitsch believes that a release in 2023 is more realistic. Whether it will be released on all platforms at the same time, or if the console version will be playable later, we also do not know yet.
