Age of Water is an MMORPG where you only move on the sea. The entire world has been flooded, and only occasionally does a particularly tall tower rise above the water. Your goal is survival. To do this, you fight against pirates, adverse conditions, and in the endgame, also against other players.
What kind of game is this? In Age of Water, everything revolves around survival at sea. You fight for the last resources, similar to the survival game Raft, but you sail through a completely open world and encounter many other players.
The main focus of the game is, of course, on the ships. The developers promise dozens of base models that you can customize with your own parts. Everything is possible, from small motorboats to 30-meter long boats equipped with the latest weapons.
- You explore the vast and open game world on your own ship.
- On the sea, various dangers await you, such as storms or pirates.
- You gather resources to upgrade your equipment, your ship, and your weapons. You acquire these resources by completing quests, exploring shipwrecks or underwater cities, hunting pirates, or trading with other players.
- You can build your own base and even set up production chains like in a factory.
- In the safe zones, there are only PvE contents. Outside of these zones, PvP can occur. For example, there are missions where you have to transport goods from one place to another. During this, you can be attacked by other players.
- The game will receive a German localization.
The developers suggest that it will be a rather difficult game. In the first trailer, it was said: “Age of Water is tough and unforgiving.”
When will the game be released? So far, the developers have not commented on a release date or the exact funding model.
However, in a new and quite entertaining trailer, the start of registration for the closed beta has now been announced:

How can you participate in the beta? Anyone who wants to participate in the Age of Water beta can register on the official website (via AgeOfWater). There you will have to work through a questionnaire.
The developers want to know what other games you play, what time you are active, and what your hardware looks like in detail.
However, registering for the closed beta does not guarantee that you will actually be able to participate. The developers reserve the right to select testers themselves, as the number of participants in the beta will be limited.
When will the beta take place? There is no information about this yet. The start date is expected to be announced soon.
However, the developers have already revealed that the beta will have an NDA. Therefore, there will be no videos or livestreams. The focus is solely on feedback about the game.
Who is behind Age of Water? The MMORPG is being developed by Gaijin Entertainment, a Russian developer and publisher. They have already released the shooter Crossout and War Thunder, a war game with ships and airplanes.
