With ArcheWorld, a new MMORPG is coming in 2022, which is based on the world of ArcheAge and developed by the same creators. However, this is a game featuring NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Even before its launch, character NFTs are available that cost up to 100,000 euros.
Update April 11: Apparently, these character NFTs are just images that simultaneously secure a house during the land rush. Initially, we assumed that these would be characters actually appearing in the game.
In addition, the characters are sold by players who collected them through mining. Thanks to our reader Hyrule for the tip.
What exactly can you buy? In the ArcheWorld store, you can currently purchase 2,625 character NFTs. These characters are images with pre-set attributes:
- You will learn what attributes your character has, but you will not benefit from them.
- You will receive a guaranteed spot for your house during the land rush. The building spots will thus be limited, similar to ArcheAge.
The characters vary in price and are paid for in KLAY. This cryptocurrency currently has a value of just over a dollar. The characters are sold on the website for 659 to 100,001 KLAY. Therefore, for the most expensive characters, you will pay around 98,500 euros.
The offer is valid until April 11 at 1:20 PM (via OpenSea).
ArcheWorld is set to launch in 2022 but has no trailer and little information
What is particularly curious about this offer? So far, very little is known about ArcheWorld. It is being developed by XL Games, the creators of ArcheAge. The game aims to push the boundaries of MMORPGs, will only be released for PC, and will be Play2Earn. This means you should be able to earn money by playing.
So far, only the following things are known:
- The world is said to be completely free of loading screens.
- Players will be able to assemble their characters from various skill sets, likely similar to the specializations in ArcheAge. This somewhat contradicts the class selection with the NFTs.
- You will secure houses, pets, mounts, vehicles, and equipment as NFTs and should then be able to trade using cryptocurrency.
- The developers are relying on BORA as the cryptocurrency. In-game, you can earn the currency Archeum, which can then be exchanged for BORA.
Additionally, it is not entirely clear whether it will simply be a new version of ArcheAge 1, replacing the grandly announced ArcheAge 2, which was supposed to be released in 2022 in Unreal Engine 5, or even a third game in the universe. There are too many missing details, trailers, and insights into the gameplay.
When is ArcheWorld being released? The global release is supposed to happen in 2022. More details are not yet known.
