With Rise Online, a classic MMORPG is currently being developed, which is set to be released later this year. But what exactly can you expect in the game?
What is Rise Online? The MMORPG aims to provide a very classic gaming experience. Do not expect experiments or great innovations that would take the genre in another direction.
The developers at RokoSoft are orienting themselves on the MMORPG classic Knight Online and essentially want to provide a very similar gaming experience, just dressed in a new guise. Additionally, the Unreal Engine 4 will be used, which offers a significantly nicer look than the now 18-year-old Knight Online.
What exactly is in the MMORPG? The story revolves around the two warring kingdoms of Protean and Lunaskar. You belong to one of the two factions and fight in this endless war.
You will create a hero from the classes:
- Thief
- Warrior
- Priest
- Wizard
With this character, you will set off to complete quests together with friends, defeat monsters, and find new items.
Additionally, you can participate in PvP battles. Special PvP activities take place, and open PvP is available on some maps.
Mounts, pets, and guilds are also included.
As you can see, Rise Online offers a truly classic gaming experience. This MMORPG targets everyone who simply wants to relive such an online role-playing game – an MMORPG as the genre was presented about 20 years ago, just with more modern graphics.
One could say that Rise Online follows a similar approach to Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. This MMORPG also wants to align itself strongly with the beginnings of the genre and offer a very classic gaming experience.
When will the game be released? The developers have not yet announced an exact date. However, the alpha phase started on August 30. Although the MMORPG is still in such an early state, it states on the official website:
We definitely want to share this wonderful gaming experience with you in 2020.
This rather quick release plan is to be achieved through alpha tests that will last a maximum of 2 months. The subsequent beta is also expected to be very short.
This means that if everything goes well, we will experience the official release of Rise Online later this year. The game will initially be offered only via the official website. A release via Steam or the Epic Games Store is possible for the future.
Rise Online will launch as a free-to-play game and will be initially available in English and Turkish.
What do you think of the idea of releasing a classic MMORPG that plays like it used to but looks more modern? Would you have preferred innovations?
