A new Free2Play MMORPG called Element Quest will be released on PC via Steam in November. The game features a cute 2D style and somewhat resembles the anime “Avatar” if it were a side-scrolling RPG.
What kind of MMORPG is it? The indie studio XPloria is currently working on Element Quest, a new Free2Play MMORPG for PC. The game features a 2D side-scrolling design, reminiscent of classics like Little Fighter.
The core of the game consists of the titular elements – which give Element Quest a touch of “Avatar”. You can choose one of four elements at the early access release that represent your character class:
- Fire: Apparently responsible for pure damage and primarily hits hard
- Earth: Works with control, seemingly serves as a kind of tank
- Water: The healer of the game, with which you support other players
- Air: Hybrid support, capable of dealing damage and controlling, but can also protect teammates
In the full version, at least 2 more classes are to be introduced, which will differ significantly from the existing ones. However, there is no information about that yet.
When and where will Element Quest be released? The early access release is scheduled for November 24 on PC. The game will be free and will have an in-game shop.
You can find Element Quest on Steam.
In the roadmap, the developers already indicate that other platforms such as consoles will be served in the future.
Early Access in November, roadmap is already set
These are the features: The team emphasizes that Element Quest focuses primarily on social aspects. “VERY social” is even one of the listed features. Mainly you will experience this in the advertised open world or in the expeditions.
Expeditions sound like a kind of dungeon system in Element Quest. With 3-5 players, you will embark on a roguelite adventure with randomly generated levels and boss battles. You will likely earn your progress here.
Additionally, there will be a day-night cycle where different merchants or NPCs are supposed to appear at various times. The system somewhat resembles the survival game Terraria, where the gameplay also changes depending on the time of day.
What else is coming? The development team has already revealed in a roadmap on Steam what they are working on between early access and full version. This includes:
- A PvP system with rankings and dedicated expeditions
- New locations with at least 3 social hubs
- A kind of karma system with “Good” and “Evil”
- Social features like taverns with mini-games and synergies in combat
- More expeditions, more mechanics, and cosmetics
In addition, more levels will be achievable, and the 2 previously mentioned additional classes will also come. The early access is planned for a year. According to current information, you can expect a 1.0 release of Element Quest by the end of 2022.
How well Element Quest will ultimately be received remains to be seen. However, 2021 can already boast many strong MMORPGs – perhaps even too many, believes MeinMMO editor and MMORPG expert Alexander Leitsch:
I never thought I would say this, but: “We currently have too many good MMORPGs”
