Legion: The Eternal War is a new Buy2Play MMORPG for PC that sounds very ambitious. While the focus is on PvP, PvE fans will not be left out. We present to you this interesting online role-playing game.
What is Legion: The Eternal War? In the land of Rhyfell, an eternal war rages. To make matters worse, dark creatures are emerging from the so-called Rift. Now, not only are the factions fighting against each other, but they must also try to stop this monster invasion.
- You join one of the two factions.
- You create a hero from the classes of Mage, Knight, and Archer. Classes are also supposed to be combinable.
- You level up by using your skills, which improve as a result.
- There is no Holy Trinity of Damage Dealer, Tank, and Healer.
Legion: The Eternal War mixes PvP and PvE. You explore a massive open world where NPCs give you quests. There, you will not only fight against monsters but also against players from the opposing faction.
Crafting plays as big a role as building castles. Because, similar to Camelot Unchained, siege battles are at the center of the player experience. Massive battles are planned, for which you have to build siege machines to break down castle walls and level buildings.
A first trailer shows what the gameplay looks like and which team is behind the MMORPG:
Legion will forgo grinding
What is special about the MMORPG? Besides building, owning, and besieging castles, you are allowed to betray your own faction. If you want, you can attack your fellow players.
This means that in Legion: Eternal War, no one can feel safe. Whether you can trust a fellow player will only be shown when they stab you in the back.
Furthermore, the team wants to address grinding. Of course, you can grind if you absolutely want to, but it should not give you any advantages. Those who have little time should still be able to progress and achieve everything.
The team states:
We do not want to create a world that feels like a second job. Everyone should be able to have fun.
The game has been in development for about 3 years. Initial videos and concepts were shared as early as 2018.
When is the game expected to be released? There is currently no date. The developers want to start the first tests about 6 to 8 months after reaching the first crowdfunding goal of $250,000. However, since the campaign only began yesterday, on March 10, it might take a while.
Here’s how you can participate in the crowdfunding and be a tester: On the official website, you can purchase one of several founder packages. The cheapest is available for $25. It includes access to the Alpha and Beta as well as some items like a cape and a mask.
How will the game be funded after the crowdfunding campaign? Legion: The Eternal War will be released as a Buy2Play game. There will also be an in-game shop, but you will only be able to purchase cosmetic items. The team aims to avoid Pay2Win.
For which platforms is the MMORPG planned? Legion: The Eternal War will initially be released for PC. Once this version runs stable, other platforms may follow, including consoles and mobile devices. Whether there will be crossplay will be decided by the team later.
