The new MMORPG Tarisland from the Chinese studio and publisher Tencent has announced the second closed beta. In an interview on the official YouTube channel, the developers also talked about their motivations and their ideal MMORPG world.
What is Tarisland?
- Tarisland is a theme park MMORPG like Final Fantasy XIV in a comic style reminiscent of WoW with tab targeting.
- You follow the story with a self-created character.
- Available classes include Warrior, Paladin, Mage, Hunter, Priest, Bard, and a type of Demon Hunter.
- Your character has eight modifiable abilities.
- The mid and endgame raids are supposed to be for 10 players.
- There is no open-world PvP. PvP is supposed to be focused on specific areas.
- The game is free-to-play, with an in-game shop that is said to be without pay-to-win.
Closed Beta with in-game shop and subsequent data deletion
How do you participate in the closed beta and when does it start? The second closed beta starts on November 15, 2023. You can register now on the official game homepage. The registration deadline is November 13.
The test will take place for PC and Android players in various countries. According to the FAQ for the second closed beta, there will be a rolling start
of the servers:
- North America: November 15 at 08:00 UTC-4
- South America: November 15 at 09:00 UTC-3
- Europe: November 15 at 14:00 UTC+2
- Asia: November 16 at 09:00 UTC+8
The beta is supposed to run for at least two weeks and be available in German, English, French, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Players from Germany, the United States of America, Spain, Canada, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Brazil, Argentina, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia can participate.
First time with in-game shop: With the closed beta, Tencent will launch the in-game shop for the first time. Optional in-game items are supposed to be offered in it. More information will follow later.
In the beginning, the developers state that they want to ensure that players’ investments in the game are worthwhile and that the purchases made meet their expectations.
Important: All progress in the closed beta will be deleted after its end.

What did the developers talk about in their interview? In the YouTube video, Guoshi, the CEO of Locojoy Games, and Yangmin, the game director of the MMORPG, talked about the background of Tarisland’s development.
As a driving force behind the development, both mentioned their love for MMORPGs and similar games. The world of Tarisland should be for them an ideal fantasy world, as one might imagine. However, they emphasize the importance of freedom of action and many various available activities.
