The new MMO New World is still a blank slate after a rework. The first teaser trailers now show two scenes from the combat system in PvP and PvE: It looks remarkably dynamic.
This is the situation: New World is scheduled to be released in May 2020, but at the moment no one outside the studio has a clear picture of the game.
So far, there have only been closed alphas. Additionally, Amazon hit the “reset button” in mid-2019, deleting all previous videos of the game and “reintroducing” New World with a different focus: The MMO will have fewer survival elements than originally announced and offer more PvE content.
New World is currently a blank slate. Amazon wants to change that in the coming weeks. A new developer diary is set to go live today with information about PvP in New World.
To get players in the mood, Amazon has released two teaser trailers showing scenes from the combat.
New World shows short scenes from PvP and PvE
These are the teasers: In one scene, a player with a musket fights against the “Corrupted”, who are apparently PvE enemies aiming to corrupt the island of Aeternum.
In the teaser trailer, you can see the musket shooter first strike the opponent, then kick away, and finally take a shot from the hip with the musket while further enemies rush at her.
In a second teaser trailer, two heavily armored warriors fight against each other in PvP.
The axe wielder jumps at his opponent with a two-handed strike, but the opponent rolls to the side and counters with a spinning attack, swinging the hammer and hitting the opponent.
New World had announced that for the combat system, it will rely on a mix of “WoW” and “Dark Souls”. The videos now give a first impression of how this oddly sounding mix could look in the game.
Interested players are now waiting for new information from New World about PvP. We will report on MeinMMO about it. In April, there should be the opportunity to test New World in a beta.
