Kingdom Under Fire (PC) is considered the most expensive Korean MMO, and for years a release in the West has been hinted at. But now it seems to finally be happening, and there is a Western publisher that wants to bring the game to Europe and North America in 2019 – this means Kingdom Under Fire 2 is also coming to Germany after so many years.
What is Kingdom Under Fire 2? The already announced Kingdom Under Fire 2 in 2008 is a mix of an MMO and a real-time strategy game. Similar to the recently released Conqueror’s Blade, you control not only your character but also an army of soldiers on the battlefield.
In Kingdom Under Fire 2, three factions fight for dominance in the land of Bersia. There is the Alliance of Humans, the Dark Legion, and the Encablossians. You can choose your character from several hero classes, customize it according to your preferences, and then command large armies in battle.
The game is considered the most expensive Korean MMO of all time. The costs are said to have exceeded 70 million euros in 2018 according to the Asian site Gnn.
Finally, the Western release via Gameforge
When will the game be available here? After the game has been repeatedly announced for a Western release by the Korean developer Blueside and then postponed again, it now seems to be finally moving forward.
It appears that a publisher has been found with Gameforge that will distribute the game here. Gameforge has already been involved with several Asia MMOs like TERA, AION, and SoulWorker, making them a suitable publisher for Kingdom Under Fire 2.
According to a press release from Gameforge, the Western release of Kingdom Under Fire 2 is set to start at the end of 2019. Currently, only a PC version is mentioned.
The developers originally announced that the game would also be brought to Europe for the PlayStation 4.
What is the story behind the release of the game? Due to the constant announcements and delays Kingdom Under Fire 2 was considered lost. It was only occasionally reported on at gaming fairs. Until recently, hardly anyone believed in a Western release.
Fun Fact: Already in 2014, Kingdom Under Fire 2 was highly praised by the streamer AngryJoe at the then E3 and was considered his highlight.
Will he still think it’s so great 5 years later?
