With Durango: Wild Lands, Nexon is currently working on a mobile game that strongly resembles ARK. In a land of dinosaurs, you must survive and build a base.
What is Durango? The mobile game places you in a sandbox full of dinosaurs. Your task is to team up with other players, gather resources, build a base, and stay alive. This strongly resembles the survival game ARK.
You craft items from the resources you find, and teamwork is essential.
An ARK for mobile devices
What are the differences to ARK? Aside from the fact that you play on your phone, Durango differs from ARK in several other aspects:
- You play from an isometric perspective, similar to Diablo.
- You choose a class for your hero, but classes can be changed.
- PvP takes place in specific zones.
- The game world is designed to develop without your intervention. Dinosaurs, for instance, can wander into other areas, making hunting them more challenging.
It starts this year
When will the game be released? Currently, there is no exact release date, even though it was stated last year that Durango: Wild Lands would launch in May 2018. The developers only say that it should be ready later this year.
How can you participate? Nexon has launched the pre-registration phase for the mobile game. You can sign up now to jump in right at launch. If you do this now, you can expect some rewards:
- Collectibles – An exclusive package with items, including the Broomstick, Paper Box, Doggy Mask, Dino Mask, Warp Box, Health, Striped Compsognathus, and more.
- Rare items – Android players who sign up via Google Play will receive 300 Warp Gems, the in-game currency of the game.
This offer applies to Android players. But even owners of iOS devices like an iPhone can participate at launch.
What do the players think? In some countries, such as Singapore, there has already been a soft launch of the game. Therefore, those who can already play are discussing Durango.
Players believe that there is still much to be done with the title. There are talks of bugs and generally a lack of a good tutorial. Especially at the beginning, many feel lost because there aren’t enough explanations. But once you get the hang of it, Durango is said to play quite well and fluidly.
